Teh SNL50: anniversary Special lived up to its hype, showcasing an array of musical legends. Jack White electrified the audience with a slide guitar performance of Neil Young’s classic Rockin’ in the Free World. Adam Sandler took a nostalgic trip down memory lane with his acoustic guitar,celebrating five decades of SNL. The night also featured Bonnie Raitt joining forces with Coldplay’s chris Martin, while Brittany Howard and Miley Cyrus delivered a heartfelt rendition of Nothing Compares 2 U.The grand finale saw Paul McCartney serenading the crowd with golden Slumbers, carry That Weight, and The End from The Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road.
A Surprising Duet: Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter
One of the evening’s standout moments was the unexpected collaboration between Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter, who performed a lovely version of Homeward Bound. Holding his signature black Martin OM-42PS acoustic guitar, Simon reminisced, “I performed this song with George Harrison on Saturday Night Live back in 1976.” Carpenter humorously responded,“I wasn’t even born then… and neither were my parents.”
“I’m thrilled they’ll get to hear it tonight,” Simon added before they launched into a harmonious duet, enhanced by his intricate fingerstyle guitar playing. This performance echoed the original collaboration with Harrison, where both artists showcased their talents on a Guild F-30R Special and a Martin D-35S, creating a mesmerizing rendition of Homeward Bound and Here Comes The Sun.
Paul Simon’s Rare Appearance
simon’s performance was a rare treat for fans, as he has largely stepped back from the stage due to significant hearing loss. In contrast, carpenter recently celebrated her success at the Grammys, winning awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best pop Solo Performance.

Interestingly, this event marked the second reunion of Nirvana in just two weeks, as they teamed up with Post Malone for a powerful rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
